A Substantially richer and further black dye was finally located created from the oak apple or "gall-nut". The gall-nut is a small spherical tumor which grows on oak and also other varieties of trees. They range in size from two–5 cm, and are brought on by chemicals injected with the larva of particular forms of gall wasp in the family Cynipidae
